Absent from the body, present with the Lord was the journey for James “Steve” Richie, Sr. of Temperance, MI on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 18, 1944 in Covington, KY to Hilda Traylor and Robert Richie. Steve married the love of his life, Regenia “Sue” Metroff on July 25, 1964 and fathered 4 wonderful children, Pamela Sue (Wade) Smith, whom both preceded him in death, Chrissy of Temperance, Lori Mae (Jay) Villarreal of Lambertville, and Steve Jr. of Walbridge. He was a proud Papa to Justin (Nicole) Kerscher of Des Moines, IA, Olivia (Nick) and Evan Villarreal of Lambertville. He is also survived by his sisters, Peggy Ross of Waterville, Donna (Rick) Thomas, and Kay (Monty) Morgan of Sylvania, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and daughter, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Richie, Gary Farmer, Sharon Lazar, and Brenda Tucholski.
In his 45 years of work, Steve worked for Home Furniture, Baldauf Bakery, and Demi Acres Golf Course. He loved playing golf and cards, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan.
The family would like to thank close friends, Van and Nancy, Ron and Sue, Nita, and Jim, his sister, Kay, Pastor Vince, and Dr. Rex Figy, Dr. Robert Palmer, Dr. Richard Phinny and the Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care, support, and prayers.
A memorial service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Bedford Church of the Nazarene, 7866 Douglas Rd, Lambertville, MI 48144. Guests will be received by family beginning at 10AM with services, officiated by Pastor Vince Flippo, following at 11AM.
