Robert Gray Ted Gossett , 80 years old, Bowling Green, OH, died Friday, June 05, 2009. He died peacefully at home after a courageous battle with prostate cancer with his devoted wife, Lenore, at his side.He was born April 9, 1929 in Sheridan, WY as Robert Owen Gray, and adopted at age 3 by Edgar C. and Myrtle Gossett, who soon moved to Lakeport, CA where he grew up. Bob, or Ted as he was also know, graduated from Clearlake High School in 1946, worked at various jobs until joining the Air Force during the Korean War. While home on leave in Lakeport he met the love of his life, Lenore Savelle. They were married August 28, 1952. They were married 56 years.Shortly after his discharge from the Air Force, Bob moved with his young family to Leavittsburg, OH where he worked as an Operating Engineer for over 20 years, building many of the bridges and roads for the Interstate Highway System. In 1975 he returned to Lakeport, CA where he worked for the Lake County Road Department in Upper Lake, CA until his retirement in 1990. He loved construction work, running heavy equipment of all kinds, and working with his hands. He became a master woodworker in his retirement, creating many fine pieces of furniture and other works of art. He also loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, but he was always in his workshop, either creating or fixing something, and all those who knew him best will always remember him in his shop. That is where he was happiest.He is survived by his spouse, Lenore, his sons Michael T. Gossett and daughter-in-law Barbara of Lakeport, CA; Robert E. Gossett and daughter-in-law Jo of Lakeport, CA; his daughter, Gail Gossett Nader son-in-law Larry of Bowling Green, OH. He also leaves three grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.The family requests that any memorials be made to Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice, 3450 w.
