On June 9, 2018 on of Jesus angels came to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, took Gene’s hand and peacefully led him home. We can never say enough of the loving gentle care the girls there gave him. No more suffering and pain after so many years. Gene was born August 9, 1940 to Paul and Cecil (Mominee) Price. On November 10, 1962 he married his love and soulmate Ruth Schuffenecker at F. St. John Lutheran Church. It was a wonderful 55 years together. He was a gentle and hard working man that thought of his family first and foremost. Sons and wives, Paul and Frances, Rodney and Natalie; grandchildren, Cody and Nichole, Cory and Rachel; and great-grandson, Colton. Also surviving sister, Leota Fetchik.
A graduate of Clay High School in 1959. For 30 years he worked at Toledo Edison Company in the Underground Department. he was also an Army Reserve Veteran serving from 1963 to 1969. Gene was a member of F. St. John Lutheran Church, harbor Light Lodge No. 746, the Zenobia Shriners, Shriners Arab Patrol, Shriners Hillbillies Unit and the American Legion. After retiring in 1993 he and Ruth bought a motor home and traveled mostly in Florida and Michigan, but as time passed they settled in Sebring, Florida for the winter months.
A Memorial Service and luncheon will be Saturday, June 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Zenobia Shrine. The Memorial Service will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m. given by a very special friend, Robert Harr. The luncheon will follow in the Zenobia Shriners Hall at 8048 Broadstone Blvd, Perrysbug, OH off of Rt 795. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
