Jack attended St. Paul Bible College in Minnesota and graduated from Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio with degrees in Psychology and Theology. Jack was a minister, serving churches in Mt. Pleasant, MI for five years, and ten years in Sylvania, Ohio. The remainder of his ministry was served as Chaplain for John Knox Village in Orange City, FL. Jack was active in his church, singing in the choir, initiating and participating in a program for several nursing homes. He completely retired when his Parkinson’s disease progressed.
Jack will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Lois (King) Gates, five daughters, Robin (Kevin) Morgan, Melody (Don) Palmer, Linda Denmead, Billy Denmead, Lisa (Matthew) Cook, Leslie (Chad) Anderson, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, his brother Don (Roxie) Gates, and sister Nita (Claude) LeMarr. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Juanita Gates, his brother, Dr. William Gates, and an infant grandson, Matthew Lee Morgan.
