George Edward Killian who was residing in Flat Rock, Michigan passed away on Tuesday July 24, 2018 at Regency Nursing Facility in Taylor Michigan. George attended Catholic Central – graduating from Huron High School in 1969, continued his education with an associate’s degree. He was the son of Richard John Killian and Theresa Marie (Charboneau) Schaefer and was born on June 9, 1951 at St. Francis Hospital in Hamtramck, Michigan.
George worked in transportation for over 20 years and started his own business – DOT Auditing. Most recently he worked with MN Express as a Traffic Manager overseeing over 100 drivers for five years, as well as a few other companies. He was well respected and will be missed by many of those drivers.
Unfortunately, George was unable to work for the past few months due to health issues. He was cared for by his life partner, Mary Kilgore.
Surviving George is his daughter Shawna Killian of Traverse City, MI; brothers, Edward (April) Killian of LaSalle, MI, Michael Killian of New Buffalo, MI, Patrick (Sharon) Killian of Brownstown Township, MI; sisters, Margaret (Randy) Reynolds of Rockwood, MI and Mary Damico of Trenton, MI.; Stepmother Kathrine Killian and stepbrother Ronald Wenderski of Carleton, MI.; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. His presence, humor and loving ways will be sorely missed by Mary Kilgore.
Preceding George in death were his parents, brother John Anthony Killian and step-father Carl T. Schaefer.
George Killian’s greatest love was to play pool. He had competed in top national competitions and was known for his talent and has many trophies to show for it. He also loved to be outdoors, fishing, swimming, boating and camping. If you were fortunate enough to be his friend, he was fiercely loyal. He was quite a character and will be greatly missed by all who loved him and the people who knew him best.
Cremation arrangements were in care of Cremation Society of Toledo. We are having a “Celebration of Life” memorial service that will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018, at a pavilion next to Flat Rock City Hall, 25500 Gibraltar Rd. Flat Rock, MI 48134. The event will be held between 1:30-5:30pm.
