Ms. Yvonne Rene Barnett was born February 18, 1955 in Toledo Ohio to the union of Ardis Barnett and Lillie B. Johnson. She passed this life on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at UTMC after a lengthy illness. Yvonne was affectionally known by her family as ‘Rene’. Rene attended Jessup W. High School, Class of 1973. She was known to be a fashionable and stylish woman. Rene was expressive and conveyed her thoughts and feelings with an extensive vocabulary, she was a strong, independent and resilient woman. During her time in the workforce Rene managed a fast food restaurant, was caregiver to special needs children and worked at the same employer as her father at Surface Combustion Company. Rene enjoyed cooking, knitting, assembling puzzles and bowling. Rene attended the Friendly Missionary Baptist Church in 2000 where she attended until her health failed, it was there that she accepted Christ as her Savior. Rene was ‘Big Sister’ to younger siblings and was a ‘Mama Bear’ to them. She was also Rene is remembered for saying what she meant and meaning what she said when it came to her younger siblings. Rene’s classmates remember her as having a kind and sweet spirit. Rene was preceded in death by her parents Ardis and Lillie B. Barnett; grandparents Robert and Annie B. Johnson and Lela Mae O’Neal . She leaves to cherish her memory siblings Sherry and Clark Felton both of Flint, Michigan, Donna Brinkley of Las Vegas, NV, Garland (Theresa) and JoAnn Edwards of Toledo Ohio, Rhonda Bell Mims, Edward Lamont Barnette and Artisha Barnett all of Toledo, Ohio (Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog)
