Willie Roy Bankston Sr. known to his family and friends as Rock, Chili Willie, Chili Sauce, We Man, and Captain departed this life on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 in Toledo, OH. He was born in Minter City, MS to David and Sarah (Powell) Bankston on June 1, 1951. He was preceded in death by his father David Bankston; mother Sarah (Powell) Bankston Cooper; brothers William, David, and Johnny Bankston, stepson David Davis,and his Grandson Kyree Bankston-Brown. Willie served in the United States Army from 1968-1971. He fought in the Vietnam and Germany War. He was employed at Chrysler Perrysburg Toledo Machining and Professional Transportation Inc. He was a former boxer for the Golden Gloves, and he also boxed for The United States Army. He leaves with loving memories his daughter LaShawnda Bankston Holmes (Rodney); sons Willie Bankston Jr., Demorrus Bankston Sr., and James Osley all of Toledo, OH; stepchildren Donald Brown and Dedra Brown; sisters Lula Bankston of Toledo, OH, Bobbie Williamson, Deborah and Beverly Bankston all of Dallas, TX., Dorothy Powell of Memphis, TN and Flora Bankston of Columbus, OH; brothers James (Sherrie) Bankston of Toledo, OH., and brother Dexter Jones of Ruleville, MS.; grandchildren Willie Bankston III, Demorrus Bankston Jr, Chance Sweeney Jr, Whitney Bankston, Chaunia Sweeney, Troy Bankston, James Yates-Osley, Kendrick Bankston, Armond Bankston, Evan Bates, and Harper Bankston all of Toledo, OH. And a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. A Repass will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Word of Faith Ministries 2911 Stickney Ave. Toledo, OH. 43608 from 1-4 p.m. A special thanks to the staff at Arbors at Sylvania, Southern Care Hospice of Sylvania, and the Cremation Society of Toledo. Willie will be greatly missed. The family wishes to extend their thanks for all the prayers and condolences.
