William Jon “Bill” Turner, of Perrysburg, Ohio, was born February 7, 1941, to Marv and June (Gipson) Turner, in St. Louis, Missouri. Bill married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Beck, on August 4, 1961, in St. Louis, Missouri. Bill left this earth peacefully in the early afternoon hours of February 24, 2025, at the age of 84, with his daughter by his side. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Turner; his two brothers, Marv and Donald Turner; his sister, Jane Turner (Donahue) and his parents, Marv Turner and June Gipson.
Bill is survived by his wife, Beverly Turner, of Perrysburg, Ohio; his daughter, Brenda Gibson and her husband, Chris Gibson, of Toledo, Ohio; four grandchildren, Lane Gibson, of Chicago, Illinois, Reece Gibson, of Toledo, Ohio, Rachel Campbell, of Prosper, Texas, and Amber Turner, of Farmington, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Isla, Jade and Liv Campbell, of Prosper, Texas and a host of friends.
Bill had a big heart and love for the Lord. His deep faith, as a Lutheran, sustained him through joyful times and times of trials, throughout his life. He prayed for his family daily and was a true faithful anchor for his family. “Well done, good and faithful servant!” - Matthew 25:21
People who worked with Bill, knew him to be a conscientious and hard-working guy. While starting out on the assembly line at General Motors, in Missouri, he was simultaneously working on a bachelor’s degree, that would later earn him a place in management. Even after retiring, he continued to work, only this time, in the hospitality service industry, where he thrived on helping others. His work ethic surpassed even some of his younger coworkers, earning him recognition. Bill took great pleasure from spending time with his family and friends. Bill was a people person. He made friends easily and always found ways to connect with others by sharing stories, experiences and occasional jokes. He will be missed by many.
Bill’s family would like to extend a very special thank you to the nurses and doctors of Mercy Hospital and Northwest Ohio Hospice, for their compassionate and loving care for Bill, and to the staff at St. Clare Commons Assisted Living Community in Perrysburg, Ohio, for their love and support of Bill.
Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV) says, "A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
