William L Townes

William (Bill) Leroy Townes ,age 64, passed away on March 19, 2022 at his home in Perrysburg, Ohio. Bill was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 15, 1957. Bill started work as a coal miner in Pikeville, Kentucky before returning to Ohio and switching careers to construction. He continued with construction until his retirement in 2006. Besides family and friends, his biggest passion was music. He was an accomplished singer, songwriter and musician. He was a founding member of several bands, with his brother John, and even recorded several records throughout the years. He shared his love for music with his sons, and several nephews and nieces, by mentoring them and teaching them to play the guitar. Bill is survived by his parents Betty (Vera) and Douglas Traver, brothers John (Vanessa) Townes, Scott (Susan) Traver, Ralph Traver, Todd (Jodi) Traver, sons Jeremy (Farrah) Townes and Jeff (Terri) Townes, and grandchildren Adam and Ivey. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces and great-nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, many aunts and uncles, and niece Johndra. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date and Bill will be laid to rest in Kentucky.
