William “Tony” Pierce, 69, passed away at St. Vincent Hospital on Friday, September 24, 2021. He was born April 18, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio to Theodore Pierce and Betty (Pierce) Weatherspoon. Tony attended Macomber-Whitney, graduating in 1970, where he played football, and on multiple city-league baseball teams. He then attended the University of Toledo and played football as a defensive end on the team that won the Tangerine Bowl in the 1970-1971 season. He worked for H & R Block for the past 35 years and entertained clients as he prepared their taxes. He has also been a member of the OOE Local 18 and recently retired after numerous years from Gerken Paving Inc. He was an avid University of Michigan fan, who loved fishing, gardening (especially hot peppers), going to Las Vegas, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Pierce, mother, Betty Weatherspoon, and sister, Gwendolyn Franklin. He leaves to cherish his partner of 24 years, Constance (Connie) Tyson; his children Jonathon Pierce, C’Shalla (Chris) Parker, and Herville (Lisa) Haynes III; his sisters Valerie (Jesse) Johnson, Benita Williams; and brother, Joseph (Robyn) Williams. He also leaves his grandchildren, C’Shareese Gillespie Parker, Christa Parker, Cheyann Parker, Shayla Haynes, Serenity Young, Herville Haynes IV; special niece Kimberly (Terron) Gillespie, and multiple nieces and nephews. Tony’s huge personality holds a special place in all our hearts and will be truly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Club 16 316 S. King Rd, Holland, OH 43528.
