William R. Oblinger

William (Bill) R. Oblinger, age 85, of Toledo Ohio passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Sunday, December 15, 2024. He was born on January 15, 1939 in Logan, Ohio to Lawrence and Sarah (Sanders) Oblinger. He moved to Toledo, with his family in 1952.

Bill graduated from Waite High School in 1957. He was a member of the Maumee Demons Drum & Bugle Corps for much of the 1960s. In 1963, Bill was honorably discharged from the US Army, where he served as a medic at Fort Carson, in Colorado. Bill was one of the founding members of the East Toledo Christmas Parade.

Bill was a lifelong Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He was an exceptional craftsman and painter, showing many of his works at local coffee houses and craft shows. Also, Bill always enjoyed an ice-cold beer and a good game of golf.

Bill is survived by his daughters; Lisa Oblinger, Connie Hill, and Robin Oblinger; step-daughter, Lesa Ricci (Joe Sparks); grandchildren, Sara Santos, Ricky (Paola Ramirez) Santos, Ross Hill and Lewis Hill; and his first wife and friend, Sue Oblinger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathleen (Walsh); brothers, James, Richard (Dick), Clarence (Pete); and sister, Evelyn Strope.

According to Bill's wishes, there will not be any formal services. He will be interred in Logan, Ohio.

The family would like to thank Lesa Ricci for providing exceptional care and allowing Bill to stay in his home. Also, to his home health aide, Monica Halasz and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
