William “Bill” Meyers, 73, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025.
Born in Superior, Wisconsin, on March 31, 1952, Bill lived a quiet, steady life rooted in loyalty, kindness, and the kind of dependability that made him a rock for everyone who knew him. He married the love of his life, Sandra (Childress) Meyers, on September 4, 1988, and together they built a blended family full of laughter, love, and hard work.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra; his son, Patrick Meyers and Patrick’s fiancée, Megan; his stepson, Christopher (Abby) Maunz; his stepdaughter, Kendra Maunz; and so many grandchildren, who he loved dearly and made feel special in their own way. He was preceded by his stepdaughter, Courtney Maunz-Derrer, whom he also loved deeply.
He attended Saint Edward’s in Lakewood, Ohio, and later graduated from Kent State University. He worked at BP Refinery as an operator for 38 years, a job he never bragged about but took incredible pride in.
Outside of work, Bill was a quiet force. He practiced karate for over 30 years and collected swords just for the fun of it. He loved playing euchre, watching the History Channel, and reminiscing about his scuba diving trips to Mexico with Sandy.
In retirement, Bill could usually be found caring for the animals on the farm, tinkering with Craigslist finds, or quietly showing up for his family the way he always did. He wasn’t one for the spotlight, but his presence spoke volumes. He had a special bond with each grandchild and would drop everything to be there for any one of them.
Bill didn’t believe in much fuss, and he didn’t follow any particular religion, but if you asked him, he probably would’ve told you he was closest to a Buddhist. He lived simply, gave selflessly, and loved deeply.
A celebration of his life will be held at his home in Monclova, Ohio, on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 1:00 - 5:00 pm. All who knew and loved Bill are welcome to come to share stories, laughter, and memories.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, who helped care for Bill with incredible compassion in his final days.
