William P. "Bill" Kimple, Sr.

January 6, 1938 — January 6, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of William “Bill”/ “Poppi” Kimple Sr. Born January 6th, 1938, he fulfilled his wish of making it to his next birthday, passing away peacefully to be with the Lord, on January 6th, 2024, surrounded by family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Fern Kimple; brother, John Kiel; sister, Jean (Walt) Greenacre; son-in-law, Raymond Frelin Jr.; and sisters-in-law, Marilou, Dona, and Joan. He is survived by his wife and sweetheart, Patricia “Pat” Kimple, whom he married on July 28, 1956; his five children: Kenneth (Na) Kimple, Kathleen (Raymond) Frelin, W. Paul Kimple Jr., Trisha Reese, and Rob (Jackie) Kimple; and his 10 grandchildren, Eric, Ashley (Brent), Daniel, Samuel, Miranda (Scott), Anthony (Saraya), Alan, Chawna (Phillip), Hannah, and Jack; 14 great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Robert (Marilou) Kimple, Hank (Dona) Kimple, and Richard (Joan) Kimple.

Bill was a kind and wonderfully ornery man, with fantastic wit and love for his family. In his younger years, he attended Woodward High School and enjoyed playing pool and dart ball, in addition to becoming an avid golfer. Persistent with advancing his golf game, he finally got his first hole-in-one on the 8th hole of White Pines Golf Course. Bill could often be found watching the Browns, the Buckeyes, and, closest to his heart since he was 8 years old, the Cleveland Indians. He could also be found in his shop working on his latest creation. His talent and skill in woodworking and remodeling were rivaled only by his stubbornness in solving whatever challenges his projects gave him. He also loved spending mornings with family, having coffee and a good arm twisting for cookies or sweets, spending time with his little buddy, Noah, evenings around a bonfire, or watching Westerns and game shows together.

No number of years with him would have been enough, but we will be forever grateful for the time we had with such a wonderful man, and he will live on in our stories and our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Bill’s name.
