William R. Hayes, Jr.

William Richard "Rick" Hayes Jr. left this earth on August 3, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to William Richard Hayes Sr. and Jane Miller Hayes on June 14, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio. After the family moved to Columbus, he graduated from Grandview Heights high school. He then served in the Navy from 1968 to 1973, being honorably discharged as a Radarman E3. He and Cindy (Kopp) Hayes married on May 19, 1979. They raised 3 wonderful children with whom they had wonderful camping and Scouting adventures. He held a Hotel/Motel degree and worked many years at Holiday Inns and Family Dollar. He also attended Stautzenberger College, Toledo Ohio, graduating with a degree in Electronic Engineering Technology in 1989. He retired from Daimler Chrysler in 2014 as a Millwright. Rick also served his Lord in many positions, most recently attending St. Matthew's Anglican Church in Sylvania, Ohio. He was also very active in the American Legion, most recently in the Holland Post where he held many positions.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy (Kopp) Hayes; daughters, M. Michelle (Randy) Widanka and Florence (Clovie Pounders) Hayes; son, William (Kelly) Hayes; grandchildren, Jacob (Malaysha Huston), Daniel (JoBeth Daniels), Brian and Luke Widanka, Phoenix (Chris) Hayes, Darlene Hayes, Tiernan Pounders, Emily Emch and Sara Hayes. His great grandchildren are Wyatt Widanka, Malik and Elli Huston. He also leaves behind his brother, Mike (Terri) Hayes and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his Goddaughter, Gloria Sauerwein and her son, Alex. He especially enjoyed watching the children play, especially their football games.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William Richard Hayes Sr. and Jane Miller; sister, Kathy Lasater and brother, Dan Hayes.

Services will take place on Saturday, August 15, beginning at 11:00 AM, American Legion Holland Post, 1074 Clarion Avenue, Holland, OH 43528.

11:00 am Military Service & 21 gun salute

12:00 pm Visitation

1:00 pm Anglican Church Service

2:00 pm Luncheon
