William T. Bockert

William Theadore Bockert, age 90, of Lyons, Ohio, formerly Sylvania, Ohio, passed away on April 7, 2021. Bill was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 6, 1931, to the late Henry and Mabel (Chase) Bockert. Shortly after enlisting in the United States Navy in 1949, he married Phyllis (Wilson) Bockert. They just celebrated their 71st Anniversary. Bill was a truck driver. He retired from Preston Trucking in 1992, where he worked his last 26 years. Bill loved cars and collecting milk bottles. He and Phyllis moved to Lyons in 1984 and restored a beautiful large house – making it a home to entertain family and friends. Bill cherished his wife and loved his grandchildren, always teasing them. He also loved his pets. Bill knew the Lord and he and Phyllis were members of Jasper Bible Church. Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers Eugene and Harold, sister, Doris Stubbs and grandson, Jeremy Bockert. Bill is survived by his wife, Phyllis; children, William H., Wayne (Tish), Warren (Cindy), Westley (Barb), Walter (Jan), Wayde (Debbie) and Sandra (Dan) Smith; brother, Parker; sisters, Pearl Fritz and Mary Ann Frontine; 20 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on May 8, 2021, at Jasper Bible Church, 8230 S. Adrian Highway, Jasper, Michigan 49248. Visitation 10:30 AM, Service 11:00 AM, luncheon 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
