Wayne A. Beaverson

July 18, 1952 — May 24, 2024

Wayne A. Beaverson, 71, passed away on May 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with multiple cardiovascular issues. Born on July 18, 1952, to Ralph and Phyllis Beaverson (Lazenby) in Toledo, Wayne left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.

You might recognize Wayne from his role as Harry the Sasquatch in the film “Harry and the Hendersons,” at least according to his children. However, his true legacy extends far beyond the silver screen. Wayne grew up alongside his siblings, Jerry and Sandra, attending Trinity Lutheran and later Bowsher High School. It was there that he met Rosanne, the love of his life, and they married on April 6, 1973. They shared five decades of life and three children together.

Wayne’s life was a blend of adventure and service. When he wasn’t exploring the woods, he worked as a mechanic at TARTA. His ornery nature was balanced by a contagious belly laugh, a penchant for making funny faces during family photos, and a mischievous spirit when playing with his kids and grandkids. Wayne was the go-to person for fixing anything—a true handyman with a heart of gold.

His second family awaited him at Providence Reformed Baptist Church, where he found solace and community. In 2013, Wayne retired from TARTA but continued to work part-time at Whiteford Kenworth and General Motors as a parts delivery driver until his permanent retirement.

Wayne leaves behind a loving legacy. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rosanne, and their three children: Brent (Sarah), Tyler (Melissa), and Nathan (Brittany). His seven grandchildren—Nicholas, Rowan, Kaleb, Andrew, Briar, Carson, and Adelyn—will forever cherish memories of their playful and caring “Papa Squatch”. His mother, Phyllis, and siblings, Jerry (Nancy) and Sandra (Charles), share in the grief of his passing. Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Ralph, and uncle, Robert Lazenby.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Paul Chako of UTMC, Dr. Justin Lee of the Cleveland Clinic, the compassionate nursing staff at UTMC Cardiac ICU (especially Lisa and Stevie), and the nurses at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

A Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm, at Walker Funeral Home - Springfield Chapel, Holland, Ohio, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or The American Diabetes Association.

May Wayne’s memory continue to inspire kindness and laughter in the hearts of those who knew him.
