Ward W Westfall

William Ward Westfall, 77, originally from Ferndale, Michigan, passed away on August 7, 2023 due to a weak physical heart.

Ward was born on December 13, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan. He was adopted by William Grant Westfall and Etha Lorena (Heilbrun) Westfall.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Esteva. They had two children; their daughter, Kletha “Cricket” who married Rob Goode, their son Daric who married Mary Ann (Daric preceded Ward in death in 2016). Ward is also survived by his extended family of Jeff and Deborah Hale and their children, Maria and Jacob. He leaves behind many friends who were considered family.

He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1954. He began to help in the building and remodeling of Kingdom Halls and Assembly Halls in 1984. His greatest joy was serving Jehovah and meeting friends all over the state of Michigan and beyond. He quickly became known for his willing spirit to haul his popup camper, tools and Coke (later Coke Zero) anywhere a building needed to be built or repaired. His cowboy hardhat was a staple on any site and to find him you just had to listen for his booming voice. Though learning sign language was difficult for him, he encouraged his wife in her efforts to support the growing sign language groups and congregations in the Detroit and Flint areas. Even being willing to serve in the first ASL Congregation in Warren, Michigan for two years.
