Vonnie Louise (Lewis) Truitt, age 96, resident of Adrian, Michigan, passed away peacefully of heart failure at her daughters home in Perrysburg while in Hospice care on Wednesday June 16th, 2021. She was born on December 24, 1924 at Bixby hospital, Calhoun Ga to the late Fain and Annie (Loss) Lewis. She graduated from Red Bud H.S and started working at Sears in Atlanta where she met and married Freels (Fred) Truitt after his service in the Navy. They had 5 children and she was a stay at home mom taking care of her family. She loved to sew for her family while they were all in school. Eight years after her husband passed away, she started going to Seniors dance every Wednesday for 12 yrs until the pandemic shut everything down. She also loved to watch the Detroit Tigers play baseball. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 53 yrs, daughter Sandra Carroll of Colorado Springs, as well as 6 brothers and 3 sisters all of Calhoun Ga. She is survived by siblings Vernon Lewis, Irene Mooneyham and Betty Whitfield all of Calhoun Ga and her children, Shirley Truitt, Carol (Larry) Deems, Cathy (Norm) McGhee and David Truitt. She was a loving grandmother of 6, Amie, Aaron, Nicole, Mallory, Kayla and David Jr ( D.J) with 16 great-grandchildren. A special mention of her friend and loving companion of 12 yrs Stanley ( whom she met at the dance). There will be a private family memorial at Restlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg would be greatly appreciated.
