Vera Ann Augustyniak, 88, of Toledo, OH, passed away on June 8, 2022. Vera was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, September 29, 1933, as Verica Pintar Stefek to Viktor and Ljubica Stefek. The family re-located to America after WWII, when Vera was a teen. In 1956, Vera married Raymond, whom she met as a pen-pal while he served in the Navy. The family raised 10 children and were members of Rosary Cathedral parish. Vera is survived by her children Valerie (Harold) Boyd, Victoria (Ernie) Randall, Charlene, Alisa (Douglas) Ortiz, Janine, Bernie, James (Dawn), and David;16 grandchildren, 6 great, and 9 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, and sons Lee and Daniel. Vera raised her children while operating her own cleaning and adult care businesses. She shared her talents of sewing, embroidery, and baking. Vera was a giver and would always give a guest a gift, be it food, a memento, a book, a recipe, or a magazine clipping. Vera was a member of the Inner Vision support group for the visually impaired, the International Institute, (where she provided translations) and St. Thomas Parish. The family extends gratitude to the staffs at Alexis Gardens and Senior Helpers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Society of St. Vincent DePaul. A private memorial service will be held in the chapel of Resurrection Cemetery in Toledo, OH on Saturday, June 25.
