Tommie Williams

Tommie Williams, age 74, of Detroit, MI, passed away on September 18, 2026. He was born on April 19, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Johnnie Williams and Mary Earl Heidelberg.

As a young child, Tommie moved with his family from Detroit to Shubuta, Mississippi, where they lived for several years before returning to Detroit when he was eight years old. The youngest of ten children, Tommie learned the value of hard work at an early age. He began working at just 16 years old and continued throughout his life until his retirement, building a career in craftsmanship.

Above all, Tommie was a family man. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and brother who especially enjoyed being at home and spending time with those he loved.

Tommie is survived by his wife, Darlene Williams; his three sons, Tristan, Jeremiah, and Ezra; his granddaughters, Ezreiah and E'miah Williams; his sisters, Ruby and Georgia; and his beloved niece, LaTonya Fleming (Derek), along with other family members and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Esther, Joyce, Mary, Johnnie, Earl, Chester, and Eddie.

On July 5, 2025, Tommie was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer. In December of that year, he was given an estimated three to six months to live. Tommie surpassed that prognosis, giving his family the blessing of additional time together through September 2026. His strength and perseverance throughout his illness reflected the hardworking spirit that characterized his life.

Tommie will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, and the many roles he cherished most - husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle.
