Timothy J. Spears

October 4, 1954 — December 24, 2024

Timothy J. Spears, 70, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on December 24, 2024, with his loving wife at his side. His passing leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Born on October 4, 1954, to Gloria (Warner) and Gerard Spears. Tim married the love of his life, Julie (Lloyd) Spears, on March 1, 1991, and together, they shared 33 wonderful years filled with humor, adventure, and a deep connection that inspired all who knew them.

Tim was known for his quick wit, captivating storytelling, and gift of gab, often lighting up any room he entered as the life of the party. His career reflected his love for exploration, working as a sailor for the Columbia Transportation System/Oglebay Norton, and later as an over-the-road truck driver during the 1980s, returning to that role during the COVID-19 pandemic to support those in need. He loved driving through the Rocky Mountains, and documented his travels in videos he often shared with family/friends. He also worked for the Department of Homeland Security/Coast Guard in Toledo as a Forensic Document Examiner, and in Martinsburg, WV at the National Maritime Center as an Analyst. Additionally, he was in the CG Auxiliary, where he would assist personnel in inspections of the lake freighters, an assignment he thoroughly loved.

He briefly retired to Port Charlotte, FL, for 5 years, before returning home where he started Spears Airport Transportation. He enjoyed being able to share stories of his adventures with his many clients, who loved him not only the great service he provided, but for entertaining them and getting them to the airport safely.

A nature lover and an admirer of New Age music, Tim found peace in quiet solitude, feeding the birds, and watching his adored canine companions, Lexi, Luna, and Gracie playing in the yard. His grandson, Devan Lloyd, was the light of his life, bringing him immeasurable joy. He was also a voracious reader and writer, authoring over 100 self-published books.

Tim is survived by his devoted wife and soulmate, Julie; stepson, Stacy Lloyd; grandson, Devan Lloyd; siblings, Joe (Shelli) Spears and Eileen Duncan; sisters-in-law, Patti Shellhammer Spears and Pat Karpinski; brother-in-law, Sam Besase, Jr.; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mike and John Spears, Pat Miller, and Kathy Paul.

Per Tim's wishes, services will be private. A celebration of Tim's life will be held at later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Central Ohio Sheltie Rescue, or Nature's Nursery in Whitehouse, OH.

Tim's passing on Christmas Eve has left an irreplaceable void, but his memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
