Thomas J.
Pickford
Jun 27, 1955 — Sep 28, 2026
On Monday, September 28, 2026, Thomas John "Tuck" Pickford's earthly journey closed. Tuck was born to John and Pearl (Harsh) Pickford on June 27, 1955. He was a life-long farmer in the Jasper/Lyons area. He was a highly skilled caretaker of the land. His life-long pursuit was to leave this precious resource of soil better than he found it. Tuck was a mathematical savant. Faster than one could unscrew the cap on a jug of chemicals, Tuck had already calibrated the sprayer...without using a pencil.
Never one to impress other with his success, he lived a modest and frugal life. His word was his bond, Tuck was a man of wit. He knew enough jokes to fill an encyclopedia. Though not a religious man, he was profoundly spiritual. His passion for caring for wildlife and the land are testimony of his caring spirit. His unbounding generosity was that of a well-honed caring spirit.
Though Tuck was never bashful in expressing his opinion on all matters (and more than a bit graphic in his word choice) he rarely carried a lasting grudge. His battles were short and clearly stated. Without question, Tuck's greatest strength was his ability and focus on keeping his friendships in good repair. For those who called his friend, his bluster was merely a delicate filter that concealed a deeply caring man.
There is little doubt among those who knew this good man, he has already heard the gentle whisper, "Welcome home my son, Job well done!"
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
