Thomas B. Franks

Thomas Bert Franks was born on October 9, 1944 to his parents Ray and Esther (Drewicz) Franks. The best part of Tom’s life was growing up in Genoa, Ohio. He spent many summers swimming at the Genoa Quarry. He and his brother, Gus Franks, had many adventures while growing up.

Tom entered the Navy at 17 in 1962 and was assigned to the U.S.S. Gilmore.

Tom met Karen, fell in love, and married for 42 years. The two loved to take their RV and camp with friends and family. Tom’s best times were camping with the Macke family and their best friends, Sandy and Ed Karamol. Every year for 25 years, he and Karen would take the RV to the Michigan Lighthouse Festival in the Fall.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Esther Franks; his brother, Theodore (Ted) Franks; and his son, Thomas E. Franks.

He leaves his family; wife, Karen (Macke) Franks; sister, Margaret (Franks) Goldstein; brothers, Dennis (Karen) Franks and Rodney (Tammy) Franks; children, Edward (Stacey) Franks, Mary (Brett) Richards, and Crystal Franks; grandchildren, Marc (Stephanie) Franks, Jade Franks, Noah Butts, Logan Butts, Xavier Richards, Daniella Richards, and Hannah Grabke; great-grandchildren, Cassandra and Vivian Franks; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be private. His family would like donations to go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
