Thomas Cousino

Thomas Cousino, 73, of Monroe Michigan passed away peacefully on September 15th, 2023. Thomas was born a premature infant in Monroe, Michigan on December 23rd, 1949, to Wayne R. and Rosemary Cousino.

He graduated from Monroe Catholic Central High School in 1968. He attended the College of Steubenville in Steubenville, Ohio, and St. John’s University in Minnesota. He received his bachelor’s degree in counseling from the University of Toledo in 1986 and began his counseling career immediately following graduation.

While Tom’s education and bachelor’s degree were among his great accomplishments, his greatest achievement was yet to come. Years after surviving life threatening surgery at 2 days old, he sustained a life changing event while parasailing, which caused him to lose the partial use of his legs. Throughout Tom’s life chronic pain became his constant companion.

At a very early age, Tom felt a pull towards God. His deep faith and love of Christ is what sustained and comforted him during his times of trial. His faith grew to a point where priesthood was considered as his vocation. He ultimately became a deacon and witnessed his faith daily to all those he met and loved sharing his journey with Christ.

Tom was a long-standing member of Michaels Men Organization, a group of devoted Catholics in-service of their fellow man, who served him faithfully until his last journey to his rightful seat at the side of our savior.

Tom is preceded in death by his father Wayne Cousino, his mother Rosemary. He leaves behind three siblings, Tim (Marsha) Cousino, Terri (Dennis) Loope, and Tad (Catherine) Cousino. He adored his twelve nieces and nephews, Nataleigh (David) Dillon, Nicole (Matthew) Stankey, Laura (Brian) Droste, Andrew, Jordan (Raouf) Solaiman, Austin Cousino, John Michael (Amber) Oros, Lisa Oros (Katelyn), Amy (Ted) Burrell, Cedric (Sara) Thelier, Ajay (Jenna) Cousino, Alex (Erikka) Thelier, his nine great nephews, and six, soon to be seven great nieces.

A Memorial Mass will be at St. Michael’s Church in Monroe, Michigan. A gathering of friends and family will be at 1:00 p.m. on October 7th, 2023, with the mass following at 2:00 p.m.
