Thomas Herman Browning

Tom Browning, age 104, passed away on November 18, 2025 at St. Clare Commons, in Perrysburg, Ohio. He was born in Irvington, Indiana, on March 9, 1921, and always remained a Hoosier. Tom took great pride in being an Eagle Scout and was honored to take part in the first National Scout Jamboree, held in Washington D.C., in 1937, which was attended by over 25,000 boys.

In 1942, Tom enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served first as a flying instructor and then as an attack bomber pilot. He continued his service in the Air Force Reserve until 1956. Assistanted by the GI Bill, Tom graduated from Bradley University in 1947 and was involved in continuing education throughout his career. Tom was a pioneer in Information Technology and computers. He worked for the two major Toledo glass companies for a total of 29 years and as an independent consultant for an additional 14 years.

Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Browning; and his second wife, Bonnie Flannery-Browning. He is survived by his daughter, Ann (Jim) Lake; grandchildren, Tom (Diane) Hejnicki, Lis (Jake) Sechkar and Josh (Maureen) Gabriel; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Cameron, Heaven, Jasmine, and Rachel; great-great-grandchildren, Jasper and Killian; long-time friends, Lisa, Kathy, Sarah, and Jerry.

A private service celebrating Tom’s life for the family and close friends will be held at a date to be determined.
