Theresa A. “Tree” Davis was born August 1, 1965, to Robert B. and Donna (Teel) Davis. She passed away on September 26, 2026, surrounded by her family following a brief battle with bladder cancer.

Taking after her father, Tree could best be described as the life of the party. She was the comedic one, always looking for a reason to laugh and, more importantly, a way to make everyone around her laugh too. She didn't want sadness hanging around for long. That sense of humor—and maybe a little bit of her sass—was certainly passed down to her children.

Tree even had her own language for some of life's everyday places. Taco Bell became “Taco Hell,” McDonald's was “McNasties,” Walmart was “Wally World,” and La Chalupa became “L.A. Chalupa.” They were silly little Tree-isms at the time, but they're exactly the kind of things her family will find themselves saying years from now and immediately think of her.

Behind all of the jokes was someone who cared deeply about her family and the people closest to her. Tree was a woman of her word. She was dependable, she was present, and she took pride in helping others. Even when she was quietly dealing with pain and struggles of her own, she continued showing up and caring for people who needed her—often without letting them know how much she herself was carrying.

Of all her roles, though, being “Gaga” may have been her favorite. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy—and, by all accounts, appropriately spoiled. She always knew how to push her kids’ buttons, too, although as one of them eventually realized, that was only fair: she installed them, so of course she knew exactly where they were.

Tree was preceded in death by her parents, Robert B. and Donna Davis; her brother, Robert G.; and her nephew, Timothy Jr.

She is survived by her three children, Christopher Carner, Amanda (Derek) Weissenberger, and Joseph (Tara) Hernandez; her grandchildren, Serina (Kraig), Andria, Alexandria, Joseph Jr., and Juliana; her sister, Shawn (Tim) Letson; her brother, Keith Stelter; her nieces; her “bestest” friends, Jewell and Connie; as well as a host of other family members and friends.

There will undoubtedly be stories told about Tree for years to come—some sweet, some ridiculous, and plenty that will probably end in laughter. That's exactly how she would have wanted it. Her family will remember the humor and the sass, but they'll also remember someone who showed up, loved her family fiercely, and made life a little less serious for the people around her.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank-you to the hospice team and the staff at Shoreline for the care and compassion they provided to Tree and her family during her final days.
