Tanya M. Tmd Dorsey-Wiggins

Tanya M. Dorsey-Wiggins, 48, of Toledo, Ohio, was born on February 27, 1972, in Washington, D.C. After a brief illness, she departed this life on June 20, 2020, at the Toledo Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Tanya’s passing has touched so many people and has left a gaping hole in her family that cannot be filled. Tanya’s love of life and kind spirit blessed any and all who came into her presence. Tanya’s engaging personality and caring and compassionate manner made her a natural in her career choice as a customer service representative. She didn’t see people as voices on the other end of the phone, but as real people with real problems that she would assist to the best of her ability. In one of her positions as a Relay Operator for AT&T, she was responsible for translating conversations for hearing impaired clients for both their personal and business communications. Her mother, Wanda, taught both her and her brother, William, American Sign Language at an early age, thus giving Tanya a personal empathy for people who are hearing impaired. Also while employed at AT&T’s Midwest region, in 2007 Tanya was instrumental in helping to create a brand new department which is now called Uverse. She was one of the first employees to be given the job title Uverse Dispatcher. Tanya was well known throughout AT&T and worked closely with hundreds of employees in Michigan and Ohio. Tanya’s natural comedic talent was a gift. She had the timing of a comedienne and the ability to take ordinary day-to-day situations and make them hilarious. Her quick wit brought laughter and life to the gatherings of family and friends. Her Facebook posts would easily bring a smile to your face and literally have you “laughing out loud.” When arriving at a family function, Tanya would announce, “TMD in the place to be” or “I’m TMD with a rapping degree.” As a teenager she was a Michael Jackson fanatic complete with posters of him, his CD’s, the “glove,” the red leather bedazzled jacket, as well as wearing her hair in the “Michael Jackson styled jheri curl.” Tanya truly loved her family and made everyone feel special in her own unique way. Tanya and her brother William shared a special brother/sister bond. They looked out for each other and were always protective of each other both as children and through adulthood. William was Tanya’s “rescuer” and was there for her at a moment’s notice. Tanya especially enjoyed her role as an aunt and had a knack for creating special memories with her nieces and nephews. Tanya was brought up in the Christian faith and was introduced to the Lord at an early age by her beloved mother. She attended Faithway Church of God in Christ in Toledo, Ohio, for many years. Tanya attended Rosary Cathedral grade school and graduated from St. Ursula Academy, Toledo, Ohio, in 1990. Tanya was predeceased by her loving parents, William “Trashcan” Dorsey, Sr. and Wanda Thompson-Dorsey. Tanya would reminisce about her father coming from Washington, D.C. to Toledo to visit her and her brother back in the ‘80s. The two weeks that her father stayed with them was a memory that was special to her and that she talked about frequently. Tanya’s mother affectionately called her “Annie Mae.” They were inseparable; they were like twins. The death of Tanya’s mother four years ago left a huge wound in Tanya’s soul. She is now joyfully reunited with both of her parents. Other family members whom predeceased Tanya are grandparents Luther Thompson, Agnes Dorsey, Will Young, Maggie “MaMaggie” Hampton-Jackson and Hubert Pleasant; uncle Luther James Thompson; aunts Dolores Webb, Dorothy “Sookie” Foxx, Roberta “Aunt Jim” Proctor, Floretta “Tilly” and Loretta “Milly” Dorsey and Theresa “Aunt Sue” Young; sisters-in-love Jill Dorsey and Tina Williamson; and cousins Michael Banner, Alayja “Lay Lay” Kirk, Leola Proctor, Joseph “JoJo” Proctor, Carlton Foxx, Anthony Foxx, Raymond “Keycoo” Dorsey, Antoinette “Nettie” Dorsey, William “Buckwheat” Young, Donnie Wilkerson, Ernest Proctor and Mary Agnes Dorsey. Tanya’s surviving loved ones who will forever cherish her memory and immensely miss her presence are her loving husband, Brian Wiggins, who delighted in cooking her delicious meals that were frequently featured on Tanya’s Facebook page. Brian was always by her side through sickness and health and in good and bad times; her devoted and loving brother, William Dorsey, Jr. and his wife, Alicia, who was like a sister to her; her nieces whom she adored – Shaniece, Jayla, Tiana, Jurnie, Rosaleah and Elina; and her nephews whom Tanya treasured – William, Jaden, Nate and Cohen; grandmother Margaret (Hampton-Thompson) Pleasant; aunts Mary Hampton Goins, Maryann Dorsey, Althea Thompson-Banner, Kathleen “Aunt Diane” Dorsey, Margaret Katherine Pryor, Angela (James) Thompson-Bailey, Rosemary Dorsey, Tarvis Thompson-Parks, Janice (Adrian) Pleasant-McWilliams, and Patsy Atkins; sister-in-love Larosa Moore; numerous cousins including Tracy “Lil Big Cousin” Bullock and Ronald “Papoose” Wilkerson; and many other relatives and friends near and far, in addition to her feline fur buddy, Rocky. Services will be private. A celebration of Tanya’s life will be held at a future date.
