Steven L. Jakobiak

Steven “Steve” Lawrence Jakobiak, age 56, passed away On December 9, 2022 at The Cleveland Clinic. He was born in Toledo, OH on Mother’s Day, May 8, 1966 to Harry Jakobiak and Louann Coker-Jakobiak and was a 1984 graduate of Springfield High School.

Steve worked as a heavy equipment operator for over 35 years, respectively; Beaver Construction, PHC Inc., and Gleason Construction Corp. (Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18). He loved his occupation and co-workers, never missing a day of work until the day his only child, Russell, entered his life. He was a devoted father and best friend to his son. He instilled with much success to have a hard working solid work ethic, be a lover of nature, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, bonfires, cooking (Steve was an excellent cook), sports (an avid fan of The Cleveland Browns football team and all things NASCAR), and a lover of travel and politics. All of the things Steve truly enjoyed.

Steve’s last adventure with his son was traveling to Plymouth Wisconsin for the Road America race in July 2022. Camping, grilling, racing and bonfires; both were in their element. He was a vivacious lover of life with an inconceivable positive spirit, telling me just a few short weeks ago that “He lives life wide open.”

Steve is survived by his loving, devoted son and caretaker, Russell S. Jakobiak; his mother, Lou Ann Weidinger (Les Weidinger); his father, Harry Jakobiak; his brother, Ed; Lynn Partin "Mama Bear" and many more family/extended family members near and far.

He also had several lasting friendships with unbreakable bonds throughout his life. One in particular, the mother of his son, Lynn, whom Steve had known for 41 years.They were truly “BFF’s” in sickness and in health. Also, “The Snoring-Hog-Headed-Truck-Driver”, Max his loyal canine companion.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Steve’s honor during the warmer months ahead. In lieu of flowers, please consider the needs of the family.
