Shirley A. Garber

Shirley A. Garber of Bowling Green, Ohio went to her heavenly home on Sunday, April 19, 2026.

Shirley was born December 8, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio to Oscar and Mildred Frye. She attended Olney High School. She married Charles Garber on December 28, 1959. After their marriage, Shirley joined Chuck in Hawaii, where he was stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps. They welcomed their first born child, Charles Thomas while stationed there. Following Chuck's transfer, Mary Katherine and Michael Wayne were born at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. After returning to Ohio following Chuck's discharge,Keith Alan was born.

Shirley was a caregiver in her home from 1978 to 2002. She was a devoted member of the Word of Truth Christian Church in Bowling Green.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles, and their children, Charles (Cathy), Mary Gillespie (Scott), Mike, and Keith; special honorary family members, Johnny and Gillian McCartney. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Renae Marsh (Justin), Bryan Garber, Amanda Grothaus (Bob), Dana Bateson (Scott), and Zachariah Garber (Saige); step-grandchildren, Nathan, Katie, Jessica, Holly, Alyssa, and Joshua. Shirley was also blessed with many great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Lee Ann Frye; step-sisters, Margie, Georgie, and Renee; and her step-brother, Paul.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Peggy Riley (Pat) and Lois Baker (Don); brother, Donald Frye; granddaughter, Sarah Garber; and step-granddaughter, Amanda Gonyer.

The family will receive friends at Word of Truth Christian Church, 1163 Napoleon Rd., Bowling Green, OH 43402 starting at 10:00 am on Friday, April 24, 2026 until the service at 11:00 am.
