Sheri Himelhoch Bord, passed away November 11, 2025, after living with ALS with the same curiosity, determination, and quiet courage that shaped every chapter of her life.

Sheri was born October 4, 1955, with a natural drive to learn, create, and explore. She spent her life evolving, always finding something new to master, always seeking a fresh experience or a new place to call home. She built lasting friendships in every community she lived in, from her years in Northern California, to her formative years in Texas, and finally in Maumee, Ohio, where she spent her last years surrounded by family.

Sheri retired as an IT professional for a mental health practice in Spring, Texas, a role that suited her logical mind, technical skill, and desire to make systems work for the people who relied on them. Outside of work, she was endlessly curious: an avid reader, lifelong tech enthusiast, and someone who approached new ideas with enthusiasm and a willingness to try.

Her greatest joy came from creating. Sheri was a devoted fiber artist, quilting, weaving, and sewing with a deep love for color, pattern, and skill. She also had a passion for jewelry and jewelry-making; she enjoyed taking classes, learning new techniques, and immersing herself in any craft that sparked her imagination. She was equally drawn to the science of plants, becoming an avid gardener and plant collector who took genuine satisfaction in understanding each plant’s needs and seeing it thrive. When ALS took away her ability to use her hands to make art she channeled the same creativity into navigating her illness, discovering innovative gadgets, tools, and solutions that helped her maintain independence and dignity.

Sheri was a loving mother to Jeff Bord, Elizabeth (Drew) Barnabei, and Sarah Bord and a proud grandmother to Chloe Barnabei. She is also survived by her sisters, Robin Ballmer and Cynthia Beale; her nieces and nephews, Kit (Rossana) Beale, Milli (Don) Broekelmann, Amy (Ian McDermott) Ballmer, Anna (Jeremy) Davis,Whitney Ballmer; and her former husband and devoted friend, Glenn Bord, who remained an important part of her life.

Sheri will be remembered for her wit, her inquisitive mind, her artistic spirit, and her ability to keep evolving no matter what life placed in front of her.

For those wishing to honor her memory, the family requests that contributions be made in Sheri’s memory to the ALS Association.
