Sharon Jean Likinay Laplante

b. January 13, 1946

Sharon was born in Sidney, Ohio on January 13, 1946 to Albert and Claudia Likinay She was an only child and was born when her parents were in their early forties. She always regretted not being able to have children and her first marriage ended in divorce. About the same time both of her parents passed away and she was devastated and married again which brought her to Toledo. Her new husband was a salesman and was absent frequently. She was unhappy and filed for divorce with the intention of moving back to Sidney. The very same day she filed, she met me and we were married exactly two years from the day we met. My family became her family and she loved each and every one of them We joined the Maumee Elks and she was graciously accepted into the organization where she met many new friends. She was totally surprised when close to 100 people were present for her 50th birthday party. How that many people kept the secret was amazing and made it very special. I remember her complaining before the party that it was her birthday dinner and she wasnt even able to choose her dinner companions. She had a very special way of making everyone feel welcome. If she saw someone that looked sad, she would make an effort to brighten their day. She was an avid owl collector and her favorite was the snowy owl. She also loved the Miami Dolphins, especially Dan Marino and even got his autograph. She is survived by her husband, Don and 4 step-children, Timothy of Chichester,NH, James(Kelly) of Toledo, Deborah (Mark) Manoza of Independence, Missouri, and Lisa (Dave) Shuman of Berlin Heights, OH. In addition, she is survived by 5 grandchildren, Jordan Stoner, Maggie and Molly LaPlante , Zachary and Cassie Shuman and a great-grandson, Theo Stoner. She is also survived by 3 cousins, Jeannine (Hank) Wolicki of Brighton, MI, John (Josie) Soloy of Ghladwin, MI and Louis (Lois) Likinay of Sterling Heights, MI I would also like to thank the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio and the staff of Spring Meadows Extended Care Facility for their loving care. There will be no services per Sharons request. Anyone wishing to make a donation, please consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio. A celebration of her life will be held later.
