Scott D. Laney

Scott David Laney, age 50, passed away on March 20, 2022, in Toledo, Ohio. Scott is survived by his beautiful wife, Kristen Laney and his two children, James (Casey) Fugate and Alyssa (Brendan) Fugate Duff. He was a wonderful “Papa Squat” to his grandson, Klaus Fugate. He is also survived by his parents, Floyd and Lynda Laney and brother Todd Laney. Scott graduated from The University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He spent 17 years of his career at Chrysler and took pride in leading the interior design of new vehicles. He received multiple awards throughout his career. Scooter will be remembered for his unique chuckle and was infamous for his outstanding dance moves. Scott could put a smile on anyone’s face without even trying. He enjoyed going to the beach and spending vacations with his family. He was an avid Star Wars fan; his family swore he could recite each episode in his sleep. As much as Scott would deny it, his best bud was his canine companion that “he did not want”, Thumper. Scott was a jack of all trades; all friends and family would come to him trusting his abilities as a handy man. He was known for his bonfires in the back yard and burning anything that he could. Scott loved the fourth of July; his children remember every year having the dining room filled with all the new fireworks and waiting anxiously for the night to come. Scott will be missed by his family and many friends and they look forward to seeing him again in a Galaxy Far Far Away. There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, March 27th, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at The Elks Lodge located at 139 West Wayne Street, Maumee, Ohio 43537.
