On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, Sally (Moine) Allen died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 81, after a brief illness. She is survived by her sister, Judith (Moine) Donaldson (Woburn, MA); her nephew, Broderick Donaldson (Big Sky, MT); nieces, Elizabeth Donaldson (Toledo, OH) and Shawn (Donaldson) Macannuco (Winchester, MA); many great-nephews, a great-niece, and several great-great-nieces. She also leaves behind her friend, Jenny Middaugh, who cared deeply for Sally throughout their friendship and who advocated for her during her illness. Sally was born on December 23, 1940, in Hudson, MI, to Ralph and Elizabeth (Fisher) Moine. Though christened Sarah Jane, she was always affectionately known as ‘Sally’ to her family and friends. Sally grew up in Morenci, Michigan, and attended both Morenci High School and St. Joseph’s Academy in Adrian. She received her secondary education at Katherine Gibbs School in New York City and spent her life in various cities around the world, including Montego Bay, Jamaica, Miami, Florida, and, lastly, Toledo, Ohio. She made friends and established roots wherever she landed, as her sense of humor and flair for storytelling solidly touched everyone with whom she came into contact. Sally had a knack for filling the room with love and laughter, always regaling family and friends with stories from her world travels and unique experiences. Sally always had a twinkle in her eye, and she shared that twinkle with everyone. She was dearly loved and will be profoundly missed. Sally was an avid lover of animals and held a very special place in her heart for cats. She loved her many pets, known as her “fur babies,” with an ardor and compassion that was and remains unmatched. Sally was very passionate about the ASPCA and supported their work whenever possible. Donations to the ASPCA in Sally’s memory will touch her up in heaven. No services are scheduled at this time.
