Ruth S. Ziethlow

Ruth Ziethlow was born on February 6, 1928 to Ethel and Robert L. Steward in Toledo, Ohio. She was the youngest of five girls including Florence Shutt, Gladys Sherwood, Dorothy Peth, and Dollie Schuette. She passed away on July 3, 2024 after requesting her family gather from near and far, as she often did during her lifetime, to celebrate her life.

She graduated from Rossford High School in 1946, but she started work at Owens Illinois between her junior and senior year of high school to take her sister’s job while she went to visit her husband who was in the Navy. After graduation, she went back to the same job that she had previously at OI. She became a research pricing analyst until her retirement In 1985 with 30 years of service.

She married Bill Ziethlow on March 19, 1949 and he preceded her in death in 1996. They had three children, Vicki Caldwell, Terri (Bill) Hamilton and Mike (Doris) Ziethlow. She had seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church in Toledo. She loved to play cards, especially poker, and attended every sporting, dance or musical event her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in.

Her family would like to sincerely thank the staff and nurses at West Park Place for the dedication and care they provided to her over the years.

A memorial celebration was held at First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman Rd, Toledo, OH 43605 on Friday, July 5, 2024 to remember her full of singing and the sharing of happy memories with her family and friends.
