Ruth Ann Salazar

Ruth Ann (Schafer) Salazar passed away on October 1, 2018 as a result of complications of multiple sclerosis. She was born on September 10, 1943 in Monroe, MI. Ruth battled MS for over 35 years. Since Ruth was bed bound, her daughter, Michele, was right there by her side helping her to fight the battle of MS. Michele attended to her mother’s every need, caring for her on a daily basis. Ruth was always so thankful for her daughter’s love and selflessness. She was a fan and a collector of Elvis; she loved to listen to his music. She also loved coloring and puzzles, her favorite cat, Logan, watching the Detroit Tigers play, and bird watching. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Eleanor Schafer, and 4 brothers. She is survived by her 4 children, Michele (Jon) Miller, Wayne Salazar, Benigno Salazar, and Danette Salazar; grandchildren, Christina (Scott) Keller of Johnson City, TN, Randy Burleson, Joe Salamin, Mike Salamin, Alyssa Salazar, and Ava Salazar of Toledo; great-grandchildren, Morgan Keller, Anthony Keller, and Logan Burleson; brother, John Schafer, and several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Ruth’s visiting nurses over the years. There will be no visitation and services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the family to assist with final expenses.
