Ruth E. Leary

Ruth E. Leary, 85, of Swanton, Ohio, entered the Kingdom of Heaven, January 11, 2021 at St. Luke's hospital after years of declining health. Born to Claude H. Williams and Dicie E. (Seaton) Williams in Sevierville, TN; she grew up in Sevier County most of her life on the family farm before moving to Toledo, Ohio with her family when she was a junior in high school. She attended Libbey High School where she met the love of her life James O. Leary. They married in 1954 after graduation, celebrating 61 years when Jim passed. Ruth worked at the Burroughs Corp. which later became Unisys where she retired after many years. She will be remembered as a loyal, loving, kind-hearted Mother, Grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed. Preceded in death are her parents; her husband James O. Leary; son James M. Leary; sister Margie Lipinski; brother Bruce H. Williams; nephews Mark and Zane Smitley, Eric and Robert Lipinski, and niece April Lipinski. Ruth is survived by her brother J.D. (Helen) Williams; sister Aileen Oglesby of Sevierville; daughter Rhonda (Richard) Winterfeld; grandchildren Melissa Brown, Elizabeth (Domenic) Didonato, Joshua (Melissa) Michael, Richard Winterfeld III and Sara (Andrew) Schau; great grandchildren Kayla, Elaina, Ayden, Lorelei, and Joshua Jr.; sister and brother in laws Suzy and Larry Haden, Richard and Marcy Leary, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of St. Luke's that cared for her. A special thank you to the ER nurses who sang to her and gave her birthday cake. Funeral will be private at a later date.
