The bright light that was Rosemary Pitkow faded peacefully at her home early on the morning of January 10, 2026. We make this announcement with profound sadness, yet with an undying appreciation of the many years that we had her in our lives. While her medical history may have suggested a much briefer lifespan, Rosemary making it to 81 years set a record in her immediate family; a record that we hope is broken many times over.
Rosemary was a gentle and generous soul who made a positive impact on many people. She was always on the lookout for someone needing a helping hand. If you’re lucky enough to meet someone who knew her, they will surely regale you with stories of the times she did something to make their lives better. Whether it was volunteering for hospice, encouraging single mothers, or simply lending a comforting shoulder, Rosemary approached every situation with joyful optimism and a smile. Always a smile.
She particularly enjoyed seeing women reach their full potential. “Women helping women” was her mission statement. A story on the local news, a message on Facebook, or the struggling friend of a friend would set Rosemary into action, no questions asked. That was my job…make her ideas come to life. And if a little bit of her kindness and compassion rubbed off on me, all the better.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Her death leaves a big void in the lives of husband, Ron; children, Brad (Megan) Montvai and Michelle (Matt) Cleland; and brothers, Fred (Ellen) Leonard and Dan Leonard. She was a beloved aunt, great aunt, sister-in-law, cousin, friend, and neighbor.
