Ronald K. Valerius Sr, age 80, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Ron was born on February 2, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio, to Herbert and Mary Jane (Askam) Valerius.
Throughout his life, he established deep loves. None more so than with his wife of sixty-three years, Dixie. He also had a deep love for Montana and his many years there shaped his passion for the outdoors and inspired a life filled with hard work and adventure.
Ron was a hunter, laborer, tree guy, and all-around jack of all trades. Known for his incredible skill and resourcefulness. He could often be found working on cars, building things with his hands or caring for beloved horses. Whether he was fixing a broken down engine or constructing something from scratch, his talent and creativity left a lasting mark on everything he touched.
Above all, Ron was an amazing husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and wonderful great grandfather who cherished his family more than anything. He was a constant source of love, wisdom and strength for those around him and his legacy will live on through the lives he so deeply impacted. He will be sincerely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ron is survived by his wife, Dixie; children, Debbie Searles (Tom), Sherry Baldwin (Todd), Tina Wylie and Ronald K. Valerius Jr. (Julie); 9 siblings; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Valerius; father, Herbert Valerius; brother, Herbert Jr.; brother, Robert; and sisters, Sandy and Linda.
A celebration of life will be held at the family home in Swanton, Ohio, on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider the needs of the family.
