It is with deep sadness that the family of Ronald Joseph Seguin, 71 of Sylvania, OH announce that he passed away into the loving arms of Jesus with his wife and children by his side on Monday January 24th, 2022. Ron was born on March 16th, 1950 in Toledo, OH to Ralph and Evelyn (LaPlant) Seguin. Ron was a graduate of Macomber Technical High School or as he liked to call it “Make ‘em dumber”. He went on to serve the U.S. Navy as a Seabee in the Vietnam War. After coming home from the war he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Patty Orth. They eventually had two children and settled down in Sylvania, Ohio. Ron began working in his early career in construction before becoming a Stationary Engineer for Colton Chemical, followed by DuPont and eventually retiring from Perstorp Polyols. Even before retirement, Ron was always busy with projects. He was known to many as the Answer Man and to some as Mr. Wonderful. The garage was always full with at least one big project, but by winter he better have it cleaned up to at least allow Patty to park her car in there. From classic cars, especially Corvettes, to woodworking, home projects and remodels, travel trailers, restoring lawn mowers or snow blowers, finding curbside treasures to bring back to his shop, and eventually motorhomes and motorcycles- Ron could fix and maintain it all. Ron always got many laughs with his dry sarcasm and many “dad jokes”. He enjoyed sharing them with his family and friends at his weekly lunches. He instilled as much knowledge as he could into his children, like never put away a dirty tool and find the source of the rattle at all costs. Ron always had an answer for every question and a huge heart for lending a hand to any of his amazing friends and family in need. Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Patricia; their children, Zack and Amanda (Jim) Gagliano; and grandsons, James and Nicholas Gagliano. He is also survived by his sisters, Renee (Richard) Caldwell of Oceanside, CA and Marilyn (Ron) Bastron of Tavernier, FL; many in-laws that were like his own siblings; many nieces and nephews; special cousins, neighbors and friends who were like family. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Evelyn Seguin and sister-in-law, Sandy Heidtman. Ron’s celebration of life will be Saturday, February 12th, 2022. Visitors are welcome from 10 am until noon at which time there will be a brief service at Compelled Church, 8970 Jackman Road, Temperance, MI. For those unable to join or wishing to celebrate Ron’s life from a distance, you may go to the website www.compelledchurch.tv and click the live button at Noon on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be considered to a charity of their choice.
