March 12, 1945 – March 23, 2026
Ronald Kolling, age 81, passed away while in Hospice Care on March 23, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on March 12, 1945, to his parents, Stella and Woodrow Kolling.
Ronnie was proud to have lived in Point Place his whole life. As a young man he loved to sail with the Jolly Roger Sailing Club and race Ice boats at the Toledo Ice Yacht Club. He attended the Macomber Vocational High School where he studied auto mechanics, drafting, and mechanical engineering. He served our country in the Navy aboard the USS Wasp and USS Champlain aircraft carriers for four years. During his service, he helped retrieve the Mercury and the Apollo space capsules.
Upon returning home, he married the love of his life, Margaret Oerting. Together they had three cherished children, Glynis, Nathaniel and Amanda. While raising the family, Ron worked at Riehle Manufacturing as a tool and die maker.
Ron was a longtime member of the Placer’s Hot Rod Car Club and enjoyed traveling to car shows with his 1946 Ford. Ron also volunteered two days a week for the last 10 years restoring a PT 728 boat at the Liberty Air Museum in Port Clinton, OH.
Ron will always be remembered for his willingness to help out a family member or friend in need and his uncanny knack for fixing things. He was a happy man who relished and encouraged family, friends and strangers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stella and Woody Kolling and his brother, Daniel Kolling. Surviving are his wife, Margaret; his children, Glynis Kolling, Nathaniel Kolling and Amanda Kolling; andgrandchildren, Alec Kolling and Addison Bargy.
A Celebration of Life will be on April 11th at 2:00 at the RiverPoint Ministries UMC at 2862 131st, Toledo, Ohio. Online remembrances may be directed to the Cremation Society of Toledo. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to:
