Ron was born in Toledo on May 13, 1935, to Benjamin and Leona (Scott) Grow. Ron worked on the Great Lakes freighters as a young man and worked at Jeep for 30 years.
Ron was married to Myrtle for 45 years and inherited 5 stepchildren. Ron and Myrtle enjoyed traveling throughout the Eastern and Western states, they spent many winters in Florida and enjoyed going to the casino in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. They also liked to just get in the car and go for a ride – some of which ended up as overnight trips. Ron also enjoyed playing cards with family.
Ron is survived by his stepdaughters Joyce Kosmatka, Karen Trapp, stepson Dennis Salo, stepgrandchildren Jennifer (Shannon) Hardin, Steven Kosmatka, Timothy (Joy) Salo, Jessica (Mike) Zolman, Danielle Salo, Melissa (Christopher) Barr, Stephanie Salo, Shauna Salo, Rachael (Kevin) Stark, Veronica (Josh) Sparks, and 14 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Leona (Scott) Grow, stepsons Wayne R. Salo and David S. Salo; grandchild Lori (Salo) Laidlow, greatgrandchild Stefen Salo, brother Eugene and sisters Jessie, Virginia, Lila, Wanda and Dorothy.
Special thanks to his cousins Barbara (Bob) Garno and Kathy (Ron) Halka for keeping in touch with Ron via phone and regular visits.
A private memorial service will be held.
