Rodney Jay Rupp of Manitou Beach, Michigan and Oro Valley, Arizona passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025 at age 74. Rod was born into a Christian home on April 26,1951 in Wauseon, Ohio to the late Vera M. and Frank E. Rupp, Jr.

He graduated from Wauseon High School in 1969 where he was co-captain of the football team. Rod earned his degree from Bowling Green State University in 1973 and was honored with the Distinguished Service award. He served as President of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity.

Rod spent his entire career in the insurance industry earning several designations including Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, Chartered Life Underwriter, Associate in Claims and Associate in Management. He retired from Auto-Owners Insurance Company as Executive Vice President in 2014.

In addition to a successful career, Rod gave back to the communities where he lived by serving on several boards including Auto-Owners Insurance Companies, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Capital Area United Way Lansing MI, Impression 5 Science Center, Stone Canyon Community Foundation and Devils Lake Yacht Club. He volunteered for many organizations over the years and was a Competent Toastmaster.

Rod married Suzanne Reynolds, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. Together they enjoyed playing golf, downhill skiing, attending innumerable sporting events and traveling the world to include all 50 states, more than 50 countries and all seven continents.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; siblings, Linda (Jim) Homan, Marleen (Andy) Roth and Brad (Amy Johnson) Rupp.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Toledo Museum of Art, Glass Pavilion on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 10:15 a.m. For GPS use, 1940 Parkwood Avenue for Parking Lot #6 across from the Glass Pavilion.
