Robert "Bob" Justus, Sr.

Robert “Bob” Joseph Justus, Sr., age 84, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023, in Toledo, OH. Bob was born in Toledo on April 29, 1939, the son of the late LaVaughn J. and Frieda (Perry) Justus. He was raised in East Toledo and graduated from Waite High School in 1958.

After graduation, Bob worked various jobs, which lead him to performing maintenance on Trucks at a local gas station. He did such an impressive job that one of their routine customers, an owner of a trucking company, asked him to be a full-time employee, which lead to his love and career of trucking. For 40 years he drove truck from Ohio to Michigan and Indiana. He retired from First Express at the age of 72. Even in his late stage of dementia, trucking was at the forefront of his mind and right before his passing he was continuing his travels across the roadways.

When Bob wasn’t on the road, he would take the family to Lazy River Campground in Pioneer, Ohio almost every weekend to unwind. This tradition took place for over 20 years. He was also known for using the skills he naturally possessed by working on all things home improvement. Bob was a man anyone could depend on to complete a task with skill and precision.

Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his wife, Joyce Justus (married 61 years); son, Craig (Kelly) Justus; grandchildren, Joey (Savannah) Justus, Taryn (Jordan) Hilgefort, Chad Justus, and Robbie (Cassidy) Justus; and great-grandchildren, Lyla, Finn and Palmer. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved son, Robert J. Justus, Jr in 2019.

Services for Bob will be private. Memorial contributions in his memory may be sent to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
