Robert Goodrich, 51, of Rossford, Ohio died January 17 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital after battling COVID-19. He was born September 23 in Columbus, Ohio to John and Marilyn Goodrich (Cox). He is survived by his wife, Nicki Slovak-Goodrich; son, Benjamin Goodrich; brothers, John Goodrich and Tom Goodrich; sister, Pam Goodrich Means; and father, John Goodrich. He was preceded in death by his mother. Rob graduated from Wynford High School in 1988 where his best memories were on the football field with his teammates, especially his fellow offensive linemen. He received his Associates degree in law enforcement from Terra Community College. The majority of his career was spent at Lowe’s in Perrysburg, Ohio where held various positions and began lifelong friendships. Rob loved grilling, movies, his lawnmower, naps, supporting local businesses, and Ohio State football. He never let an O-H go unanswered. He adored his friends and many nieces and nephews and was excited to see where their paths were leading. Above all, he loved Ben and became passionate about the autism and special needs communities because of him. He hated bullies and always rooted for the underdogs, who found his formidable presence comforting when they discovered his giant heart. We will miss his friendship, love, kindness and gentle nature. A memorial service will be held for friends and family later this year when it is safe to celebrate him in the way he deserves. Please consider honoring Rob’s memory with a gift to Unruly Arts in Toledo and please continue to support local restaurants, shops, our healthcare workers, teachers and their support staffs, and reach out to senior and special needs communities who need it most. All would make his kind heart happy.
