Robert P. Corley, (Bob), 60, died peacefully at home May 30, 2017 following years of treatment for congestive heart failure. Bob became a pioneer in treatment of the disease 5 years ago when he became the first area patient implanted with an external heart pump (left ventricular assist device, LVAD). He was studied by physicians and nursing students rotating through UTMCs cardiothoracic surgery department Bob was a truck driver for local paving companies and continued to work until recent months. He was known for his quick wit (unbeatable at Jeopardy!) strong work ethic, a good time, and especially love for his family. Left to mourn are his sisters, Catherine Corley and Colleen Corley of Dickinson TX, Mary Connell (Ralph Stallsworth) of Charlotte NC, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob will be cremated locally and a family memorial service will be in TX in a few months time. Local family and friends are welcome to celebrate his life at a venue of choice. You know best how to honor Bobs memory.
