Robert A. Dowell, age 75, of Toledo, Ohio, unexpectedly passed away at his home September 9, 2026.

Bob, as he liked to be called, was born in Toledo, Ohio, on March 24, 1951, to the late, Joyce (Marshall) Dowell and William K. Dowell, Sr.

Bob served in the United States Army as an SP4 (SPC) fighting in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971 and was honorably discharged.

In 1978, Bob married the love of his life, Vickie Marie Fields, and the two were married for almost 24 years, until Vickie’s death in 2002, due to breast cancer.

Bob was a lifelong die-hard fan of both the Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Tigers. He rarely ever missed a game. Even more than sports, Bob loved his grandchildren the most. They brought so much joy to his life.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, William K. Dowell Sr. and his mother, Joyce (Marshall) Dowell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Vickie (Fields) Dowell.

He is survived by his siblings, William K. Dowell Jr. (Linda Cousino), James Dowell, John (Brenda) Dowell, Jeannine Reilly, and Kristine Dowell; his children, Joshua (Lori) Dowell, Sara (Jason) Villagomez, and Jessica Dowell; his grandchildren, Tyler, Tyson and Aubrey Dowell, Brodin Quaintance, Damian Marston, Bud Urbanowicz, Gabriella, JJ and Noelle Villagomez.
