Rickie William Brouillard, 70, of Toledo, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Mercy Health Perrysburg Hospital. He was born on January 7, 1954, at Riverside Hospital, in Toledo, Ohio, to Earl and Gloria Brouillard. Rickie was an only child for the first four years of his life, so he was loved and spoiled by all his uncles and aunts, and especially his maternal grandparents; along with his parents. Rickie loved adventure and embraced every challenge. As a kid, he delivered newspapers and made a shoebox so he could make money shining shoes. He played basketball at the boys’ club and Stickney School, where he attended as a child. He became an avid fisherman and hunter due to the teaching he acquired from his Pa and uncles. He loved to hunt ducks with his dog, George. Rickie also loved going to the horse races with his son, Rickie, with whom he had several adventures along with fishing. Rickie and his brother, Randy, continued to fish after his injury. Rickie worked as a machinist at Toth Industries Inc. for several years and several other machine shops. He worked alongside his uncles at the former Commercial Aluminum Cookware Co. in Perrysburg Township. Rickie held many jobs, among them was selling produce with his mother. He also junked for metal and established several lucrative spots at manufacturing plants. Rickie later in life moved to Billings, MT, to meet up with his brother, Kerry. There he was climbing and cutting down trees until he was injured; and that brought him back to Toledo for his neck surgery. Unfortunately, that led to his disability, ending his ability to work or drive. Rickie loved his family and friends and continued to stroll wherever he could in his scooter. Rickie fought an arduous fight the last many years, but he never gave up hope or gave in. He had our mother’s fighting spirit! Rickie dearly loved and adored his granddaughter, Nuella. She brought him great joy! Rickie is dearly missed and greatly loved. We look forward to meeting in heaven someday.
Rickie is preceded in death by his father, Earl Brouillard; former wife, Karen Meyers, of several years; brothers, Randy and Kerry Fredritz; grandparents, Eugene and Eva Page; uncles, Frederick (Fritz), Ronald, Roger, and Blaine; aunt, Sherron; as well as several beloved cousins and his niece. He is survived by his mother, Gloria (Sue) Baggett; children, Rickie (Megan Lopez) Brouillard and Heather Brouillard; granddaughter, Nuella Rhea Jude; step grandson, Chainey Lopez; and siblings, Mark Fredritz, Melanie (Aboud) Swade, and Lannee Baggett.
