Richard Weimer

June 16, 1937 — February 2, 2022

RICHARD R. WEIMER, 84 years young. He was sent to heaven unexpectedly on February 2, 2022 at 08:01 A.M. at McClaren St. Lukes Hospital ER in Maumee Ohio surrounded by his loving family. Richard “Dick” as many knew him by, was born at home in the year of 1937 in Mc Clure (Henry County) Ohio. On June 16th to parents, Walter and Ivadell Weimer. They lived in McClure for several years than they made the trek to the Waterville area. Dick grew up in the Anthony Wayne area developing many lasting friendships and relationships in the community. He graduated from Anthony Wayne School in 1956, went on to OSU to study agriculture when he decided to pursue another career path. He enlisted in the Air Force Air National Guard in 1960, served in the 112th Tactical Fighter Squadron as a fireman and ended his service in June 1965. He met the love of life in 1959, Betty L. Spillis, they wed on November 10, 1961. They had a full, and rewarding life together for 60 years. Together they had two daughters Linda (1962) and Bonnie (1964) that they raised in the Anthony Wayne area near family and friends, Richard went to the University of Toledo where he earned his Associate in Engineering Technology applying that knowledge in the Ink Industry for nearly four decades. Starting his career at Borden Ink in Whitehouse, Ohio and Retiring from Flint Ink in 1999. Richard was active in the Lucas County Agricultural Society serving on the Lucas County Fair Board for many years. He really liked helping with the livestock auction getting the community involved with supporting the 4-H and FFA exhibitors. If you knew Dick, you knew he loved to hunt and fish. He was a Lifetime member of the NRA and the Progressive Fisherman Associate in Whitehouse Ohio. If you meet him and showed an interest in fishing you probably had been invited to go on his boat to fish on Lake Erie or in the Maumee River. HE LOVED TO FISH. Dick and Betty loved going to Florida in the winter months for the warmth, sunshine and of course the fishing. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty L. (Spillis) Weimer Daughter- Bonnie (Thom) Gorman Son in law- James Shepherd Grandchildren (his pride and joys) Zachary R. Weimer (Ann Marie), Megan l. Lewallen (Brian) Great grandchildren (his extra sparkles to his life)- Bria, Kacie, Dane, Evie and Rowan Brothers- Robert (Patsy) Weimer, Roland Weimer Many, many nieces and nephews and great and great- greats. Preceded in death was Walter W. Weimer (father) May 2009, Linda S, Shepherd (daughter) May 2002, Ivadell A. (Scott) Weimer (mother) December 1996 May your day begin with a beautiful pink sunrise relaxed in the rest of the night before, may your day continue with blue skies that are azure in color, a light breeze to cool your brow, may your day be bountiful that turns into a twilight that is a sky full of twinkling stars of loved ones that you can see forever. Goodnight dad A special “Thank You” to Eric, Mike and Tony in the ER at St. Luke’s, you made all of us comfortable in a difficult and trying time. Thank you for the compassion and time to say goodbye.
