On September 7, 1968, Rick married Linda (Bennett) at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Flint, MI. Rick and Linda have known each other since they met in Kindergarten at Longfellow Elementary when they were just four years old. They began dating after high school when they both attended a Hurley School of Nursing / GMI dance. As a married couple they lived in Lansing, MI and then Flint, MI. With their daughters they lived in Flushing, MI and then Toledo, OH. Rick and Linda recently celebrated fifty-five inspiring years of marriage. Family was especially important to him. He and Linda hosted family gatherings for their immediate and extended family over many years where Rick would even “fill in” for Santa at the Christmas parties, which delighted his children, nephews, and niece as well as his grandchildren, great nephews, and great nieces.
Rick’s career spanned over forty years. He worked at both General Motors in Flint, MI and Libbey Owens Ford/Pilkington in Toledo, OH. His roles included Data Processing, Quality Control, and Human Resources. He also served his community while living in Flushing where he was elected to the Flushing Community School Board. Outside of work, he enjoyed golf, tennis, reading, travelling, trading stocks, wine tasting and home improvement projects.
Rick’s family would like to thank The Legacy at The Lakes of Monclova staff for caring for Rick or Ricky as he was affectionately called over the last two years. The love, patience, and attention that he was given meant so much to his family. Additionally, Hospice of Northwest Ohio provided significant comfort and care to both Rick and his family.
