Richard Szczecinski

June 6, 1985 — November 1, 2025

Toledo

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Charles “Rick” Black-Szczecinski, who departed this life on November 1, 2025 in Toledo, Ohio at the age of 40 surrounded by family. Born on June 6, 1985 to Richard Black and Kristine (Szczecinski) Liner, he touched the lives of many with a warm smile and compassionate spirit.

Rick is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph Szczecinski and Martha Davis, and Donna and John Black; and his father, Richard Black. He is survived by his mother, Kristine Liner; stepbrother, Steven Liner; as well as other family and friends who will deeply miss his presence.

Rick was known for his strong work ethic at a very young age, mowing neighborhood lawns, delivering the town newspaper, and working at East of Chicago Pizzeria. Rick was a 2003 graduate of Rogers High School, Toledo, Ohio. Upon graduation, he left the pizzeria to work alongside his dad at King Road Auto full time.

Rick was a funny, bright and outgoing character, and those who knew him were naturally drawn to his sense of humor. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and will be remembered for his generosity and loyalty, always willing to lend a hand or laugh. Rick loved working with his hands and often crafted woodworking gifts for friends and family, a technique he learned from his dad. His love for animals ran deep, and whether he was listening to his music or watching WWE, his little cat ‘Sugar’ was by his side.

Rick will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in those who loved him most.

“One more special message to go and then I’m done, then I can go home”
